I had the privilege to do a second Ukrainian Fashion shoot with Mariya, a local Ukrainian model in Ottawa. It is so much fun photographing cultural fashion around the world. I made a post on instagram looking for people interested in having their portraits taken with their cultural clothing. I got a large response which is so cool! I feel super grateful. Here’s the portraits my team and I created for Ukrainian fashion.
For this session, we had the amazing hair stylist, Cassandra Guertin Thibodeau, on set. She created the beautiful hair look for Mariya. Mariya also wore lashes by Laash Lashes.
We did our portrait session at Meech Lake in Gatineau Park. We arrived later than planned so we didn’t have much time with the sun. We did the best we could with the little time we had. We also stopped along the trail to take photos in the woods.
Mariya provided the amazing Ukrainian clothing. She also suggested the location which was a great choice. Gatineau Park is so beautiful. I definitely recommend checking it out. It’s a beautiful place to hike in the summer and fall.
We were losing light when Mariya got in the water but I was able to capture a few cool shots before the sun disappeared behind the trees. The water was surprisingly warm. I was also got into the water to capture these shots.
